Delete your account
How to delete your account in the Strangers Meeting Strangers app, and what happens to your data when you do.
In the app
- Open Strangers Meeting Strangers and tap your photo at the top left to open your profile.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Delete account, then Delete to confirm.
Without the app
Email us at smsthecompany@gmail.com from any address, give us the phone number on your account, and ask us to delete it.
What is deleted
- Your profile: your name, username, photos, voice notes, and anything else you added to it.
- Your sign-in: your login, your sessions, and your phone’s notification token.
- What you posted: your messages, polls, and flyers, and the gatherings you host, which are taken down.
- Your activity: the gatherings you joined, your requests to join, your bookmarks, your poll votes, and the blocks you set.
Your account closes at once. What you posted is cleared in the background shortly after.
What is kept, and why
- Safety measures other people took against your account (a block, a removal from a gathering, a host’s choice not to have you back, or a suspension) are kept under a scrambled, one-way form of your phone number, never the number itself. If the same number makes a new account, they apply to it again and are then cleared.
- If someone reported one of your messages for safety, a copy of that message is kept with the report.
- Your username is held for 14 days so nobody else can take it straight away.
